The purpose of the Town of Darien website is to provide timely information about our community, its services, and some its activities. Many Darien organizations and businesses can be found through the Darien Community Information Network.

12.8.2015 Parks & Recreation Commission Public Hearing

Weed Beach Expansion Survey
The Parks & Recreation Department is conducting a survey regarding the Expansion of Weed Beach. Please click this hyperlink: Weed Beach Expansion to complete the survey.

Pending Rezoning Applications

There are currently four applications pending to amend the Darien Zoning Regulations and/or the Darien Zoning Map.  The proposals can be found at: www.darienct.gov/zoningregs (scroll about 3/4 down the page). The status of the four applications is as follows:
1. a proposal to amend the Zoning Regulations put forth by the Darien Planning & Zoning Commission had a public hearing on November 10, 2015 at 8pm in Darien Town Hall. The Commission will vote on these on Jan 5, 2016.
2. Kensett (proposal to rezone properties at the end of Wakemore Street):  The Planning & Zoning Commission approved the request on November 10.  The map change goes into effect on December 13.
3. A proposal to amend the Zoning Regulations and Zoning Map was put forth by 1950 Post Road, LLC.  The Planning & Zoning Commission approved these, and they take effect on December 13.

4. Proposed Amendments to the Darien Zoning Regulations (COZR #5-2015), Special Permit Application #153-D/Site Plan, Land Filling & Regrading Application #366, Atria Darien, 50 Ledge Road.  A decision will be made on Jan 5, 2016.

The Planning & Zoning Commission is now in the process of updating the Town Plan of Conservation & Development.  The final first draft has been completed, and the Planning and Zoning Commission will be discussing this first draft on December 8 and January 12. Commercial Re-Development Presentations

On September 8, 2015, Federal Realty presented informally to the Planning & Zoning Commission regarding their plans for re-development of the commercial area in Noroton Heights between Edgerton Street and Noroton Avenue.  Their presentation is here.  You can watch the video of the meeting here.

Town News & Information

All Night Parking Restriction - Beginning November 15, 2015 Darien police officers will place warning tags on all vehicles parked on public roads between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

Effective December 1, 2015 officers will issue tickets to vehicles parked on public roads between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

The purpose of this restriction is to allow the Town to clear the streets of snow during the winter months.
