Re: Press Release- Initial Damage Assessment for September 25-26 Flooding
The Town of Darien, Office of Emergency Management, is conducting a preliminary damage assessment in conjunction with the State of CT division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security from our residents and businesses that received damage from the September 25 flooding rains.
We would like to encourage our residents and its businesses to participate. Help us insure that they are included in the collection of data that will be used to potentially request a federal disaster declaration. While the request has been made to collect data there is currently no federal disaster assistance available and this is not a guarantee there will be any forth coming. This is utilized to see if there is potentially enough damage to meet a request for a disaster declaration.
The damage must be limited to damage to your living area of your home, or damage to your business. FEMA makes final determinations on eligible damages. If you or someone you know has suffered damage from this storm, please use the Town of Darien’s website, and submit your damage and attach photos if any were taken, using this link http://darienct.gov/311/request/add . Please be specific with your description, please include whether there is any insurance coverage, and an estimate for repairs.
However, people without internet access may call 203-656-7304 or stop in at the Fire Marshal’s Office located in Darien Town Hall.
