Good evening. This is First Selectman Jayme Stevenson with a COVID-19 update for Thursday, February 4th.
52 cases and three hospitalizations have been reported in the two-week period since January 22th. There are 1017 total cases from 686 unique households. Darien Public Schools report 11 active cases resulting in 49 quarantines. The number of cases has significantly declined from the early January peak. This is great news!
We are still in the 1st tier of Phase 1b of the State’s vaccine plan. Connecticut residents who were eligible in Phase 1a and anyone 75+ who wish to be vaccinated should register to do so as soon as possible. If you or someone you know is 75+, please call the Darien Health and Human Services Department at (203)656-7328 to schedule an appointment or log into the state vaccine portal linked at the top of the Town of Darien website homepage at www.Darienct.gov. By registering online, you are applying through the State’s vaccine management system (VAMS). If you need help registering, please call our local Health Department or call the state’s 2-1-1 help line. Please consult with your healthcare provider to see if the COVID-19 vaccine is right for you before registering.
The Darien Health Department has administered 530 first doses to eligible recipients. Over 78% of Darien residents 75+ have received their first vaccine dose. Darien’s weekly clinics will continue as long as we continue to receive vaccine supply. Appointments are required. Walk-ins will be turned away. Again, please call our local health department for more information or to schedule a vaccine appointment if you are eligible.
Anyone who receives a first dose at a Darien clinic will be registered that same day for their second dose. If you did not receive your first does at a Darien clinic, you must receive your second dose at your first dose location.
Additional third party vaccine sites have opened throughout the state. All vaccine locations and registration information is available at www.211ct.org and on the Town of Darien website under “Vaccine Information”. We will keep you updated when additional vaccine sites become available. Governor Lamont anticipates providing more information on expanding vaccine eligibility in the coming weeks.
Thank you and Good Evening.
