January 6, 2022
Good evening, this is First Selectman Monica McNally with a COVID-19 update for Thursday, January 6th.
CT has provided the town with a second supply of COVID a-home rapid tests.
We received 1,260 test kits and a supply of N95 masks. The test kits have two tests in each box and one box will be distributed per vehicle. Masks will be distributed as long as supplies last. This distribution is free of charge.
As with the previous distribution, there aren’t enough tests for everyone in town. If you received tests last week, please be considerate of others in the community and refrain from taking additional tests this week.
The drive through distribution of tests and masks at Darien High School will take place this Saturday, January 8th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Distribution is for residents only and proof of residency is required. Walk-ins, with proof of residency, will be helped between 2:30pm and 3:00pm depending on supply.
The traffic pattern for drive through distribution at the high school will be the same as it is each year for the fireworks. Vehicles will enter from Noroton Ave. and exit from Nutmeg Lane. High School Lane will be blocked. Traffic on the surrounding streets will be heavy during these hours. Please avoid the area if you are not accessing the distribution center. If all of the tests are distributed before 3pm, a notification will be made via this same alert system.
You do not need to report your results to public health authorities, but you should tell those that you have spent time with recently if you test positive, so that they can get tested and protect others too.
The Darien booster clinic at Town Hall scheduled for this Saturday, January 8th is fully booked. We have added another booster clinic on Tuesday morning, January 11th. Please register through the VAMS portal.
We will also be hosting a pediatric vaccination clinic at Town Hall from 12:00- 3:00pm on Saturday, January 8th. Please refer to the notice sent out by the schools to register.
