The mission of the Darien Health Department is to provide comprehensive, public health services to the residents of Darien.  This is accomplished through the promotion of community wellness, disease monitoring and prevention, and the enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and ordinances.

Shellfishing Permit Update

The Town of Darien Recreational Shellfishing Permits are now available to non-residents for an annual fee of $40 (January-December). 

Permits for Darien/Stamford residents are $20. 

Permits for Darien/Stamford seniors (age 65 and older) will continue to be free.

As of January 1, 2003 all contractors and property owners must obtain a permit from the Darien Health Department prior to exterior sand blasting, power sanding or power washing of buildings and other structures. (details...)

Free Blood Pressure Screening Clinics

Nursing and Home Care will be at the Town Hall the first Tuesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for free blood pressure screening.  For any questions or further information call the Darien Health Department at 656-7320.
