The Town Clerk's office provides notary recording services to notaries as well as notarizing documents for the public.

Unfortunately, we cannot notarize wills, living wills, I-9 forms (Employment Eligibility Verification), documents in a foreign language or any document being recorded in the Darien Land Records and the Town Clerk's office.

When witnesses are necessary, you must bring them with you.

A current photo ID is required to notarize. There is no fee.

The fees for recording your notary appointment:

  • $20 - Original commission of notary public
  • $20 - Renewal commission
  • $15 - Change of name only
  • $15 - Change of name and address within town
  • $10 - Change of name and address to a new town
  • $10 - Change of address to new town (no name change)
  • $0 - Change of address within town (no name change)

The fee for notary verification is $5 per signature.
